Forest Villain's Shoot

Director: Carl B Harrison Standing Beside Forest Villain Two
I was very pleased with the look of Forrest Villain Two, although because the head piece was a self contained unit and had its own eyes meant the actor was acting blind. This is ok if the actor is just standing or lying down watching the Small One, but it is not recommended when you have to throw a big knife just past camera and then run though the forest completely blind... ! many rehearsals are recommended and still expect for him to fall over from time to time.

The Blinks to the head piece were added later digitally using Photo Shop. The frames were then laid back over the original... some colour correction was required to match up the frames as Photo shop has a tendency to alter the colour but the problem is easily rectified.

The blink that was added was called an alert blink, this is over three frames and its what most blinks are, if it had of being a sleepy blink this can happen over nine frames, see diagram for example of an alert blink.

Pungin's Makeup

Pungin's Makeup is probably the most complex and odious to apply, not so much for the makeup artist but for the actor David Neal. It could take up to seven hours to apply and he then has to put in an acting performance, which covers all emotions from comedy to fear. There were two types of makeup for Pungin, the first was when he was older and more dark in colour and the second for the flash back sequence when he was younger and more of a brighter green. Both took just as long to apply as the hands, arms, legs and feet had individually applied warts all over them and there were hundreds, once applied each wart was coloured.
False nails finished of the affect but that was not before the head, neck and body.
I know David enjoyed playing pungin but he was still pleased when all his acting parts for Pungin were complete.
